Progress saved in browser

Just a minor update that the web version is now playable! Progress is saved locally in the browser, and should never be lost unless some cache is cleared. There is still a lot of work to do but its a first working version.

Game on the web

Ok so just published Skyturns as a web game! Its compiled from C++ to js using emscripten. I have used this technology for the (as of yet secret) level editor for a long while. Its just a very early version, not really playable because nothing is saved.

Game removed from App stores

Google Play removed the game around new years because of some metadata stuff, kind of without warning. Which pissed me off! And iOS was marking the game as “slowing down your device” and asking another $100 for the next year. So I kind of decided to just fuck it, time for a break from this shit. Uploading a new version to the app stores and complying with all the rules is one to several days of work, work which is just totally messy and random and fuck-u-ish. I’ve done it enough times. Thoughts on best time system and sync

So yeah one of my goals is to eventually have a best times system in the game where we can compete against each other. This is not that difficult to do, its just a bunch of UI and server and database stuff. I need to host it somewhere.

Blog first, whats up with the game?!

So Skyturns was released last november, about a year ago. At that time I was pretty much burned out working on the game for two years. The release went well with a lot of downloads for the first month. Then Google gave up on the game or something and downloads dropped to one tenth, which sucked a bit.
